Walmart recently asked me to participate in their #WalmartFrugalHeroes Challenge. They sent me a $100 gift card and challenged me to spend in on a specific goal. They suggested feeding my family for a week, buying a summer wardrobe for the kids, hosting a birthday party, etc. But I knew right away what I’d challenge myself to do – buy a complete home fitness kit, with workout wear.
I’ve been working hard at getting into shape this year, and doing it all without the perk of a costly gym membership. Fitness is still possible on a budget! See some tips here.
Armed with my gift card and accompanied by my friend and fellow bloggers Merry120 from Merry with Children and MixtressSamiJoe from Peek Thru Our Window, I stalked the fitness and apparel aisles. I settled on new sneakers ($20), a balance ball for core strength and flexibility ($19.97), a 10lb kettlebell for building arm definition and core strength too ($19.97), a Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD ($7), and cute shorts ($12) and a tank ($7). I love the fold over top on the shorts as it helps disguise my not quite flat tummy. I also threw in a new water bottle ($5.97) since the kids run off with mine a lot.
Total spend? Including tax it came to $97.56. Between the DVD, workouts I find online and just getting outside in my new kicks for a run, I’m set!
